Roofing & Exterior Services FAQ
If you’re researching a roof replacement, storm damage, or exterior upgrades, you probably have a million questions (and you should). Below are the most common questions homeowners ask us at Imagine Roofs LLC—with straight answers, no fluff.
Do you work in my area?
Yes—our core service area is Northwest Indiana (Lake, Porter, LaPorte) and Chicagoland (Will, Cook, DuPage). For larger commercial projects, we can travel further.
What services do you offer?
-
We handle most exterior projects homeowners need:
-
Roof replacement and roof repairs (residential and commercial)
-
Siding
-
Windows
-
Gutters and downspouts
-
Storm damage inspections
-
Insurance claim assistance (including help with denials)
Do you do free roof inspections?
In most cases, yes. If you’re worried about hail, wind, missing shingles, or a leak, we can take a look and show you what we’re seeing. We document everything with photos so you’re not just taking our word for it.
How do I know if I have storm damage?
Some signs are obvious (missing shingles, water spots on the ceiling), but hail and wind damage can be sneaky. If you’re in NW Indiana or the Chicago suburbs and there was a recent storm, it’s worth getting a professional inspection—especially if neighbors are getting roofs approved.
What’s the difference between an insurance roof claim and a retail roof replacement?
A retail roof replacement means you’re paying out of pocket.
An insurance claim is when your roof has storm damage and your policy may cover the replacement (you pay your deductible). We’ll help you figure out which path makes the most sense based on your roof condition, your timeline, and what your insurance company is doing in your area.
Can you help me file an insurance claim for roof damage?
Yes. We guide homeowners through the process and help you stay organized. Typically, it looks like this:
-
We inspect the roof and document damage
-
You decide if you want to move forward
-
The claim is called in (with you, so it’s done correctly)
-
We meet the adjuster and present documentation
-
If approved, we schedule the work
-
If the claim is denied, we can help you understand why and what options you have.
What if my insurance company denies my roof claim?
Denials happen more than they used to. Don’t panic and don’t assume “no” is the final answer. We’ll review the denial, compare it to the damage we documented, and explain next steps. Sometimes it’s as simple as better documentation; other times it takes escalation.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential roof replacements are completed in one day, depending on size, steepness, layers, and weather.
If it’s an insurance claim, the overall timeline is longer because it follows the insurance process. A common goal is around 90 days from signing to closing, depending on the carrier.
How soon can you schedule my roof?
For retail jobs, we aim to build within about two weeks after the work order is signed.
For insurance jobs, scheduling depends on approval and paperwork, but we move as fast as the process allows.
What roofing materials do you install?
We install quality shingle systems (including Owens Corning products), and we can also help with premium options depending on the home and budget. If you’re looking for a high-end roof like DaVinci, ask us—those projects need a different approach than a standard shingle roof.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We take this seriously—roofing is not the place to cut corners.
Are you an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor?
Yes—Imagine Roofs LLC is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor.
Do you offer a workmanship warranty?
Yes. We provide a 2-year craftsmanship warranty on roofing, siding, windows, and gutters. If something comes up, we want to know about it quickly—warranty issues should be submitted within 30 days of noticing the issue so we can address it fast. We do also offer extended warranties for our other products.
What are the most common issues after a roof replacement?
-
The two biggest things homeowners ask about are:
-
Nails in the yard (we do our best with cleanup and magnets, but we still recommend keeping an eye out)
-
Leaks around flashing (rare, but it’s the most common type of warranty leak)
-
If you notice anything off, reach out. We’d rather fix it right away than let it turn into a bigger problem.
Do you subcontract the labor?
Yes—our labor is performed by experienced subcontracted crews, and our owners focus on management, documentation, and making sure the job is done correctly.
Will you help me understand my estimate?
-
Absolutely. Roofing estimates can be confusing. We’ll walk you through:
-
What’s included (and what’s not)
-
Material choices
-
Ventilation and accessories
-
Timeline and expectations
-
You should feel confident before you sign anything.
How much does a new roof cost in Northwest Indiana or Chicagoland?
It depends on roof size, steepness, layers, decking condition, and material choice. If you want a ballpark, we can give you a Good / Better / Best style instant quote (click here) and explain the differences. The best way to get an accurate number is a quick inspection and measurement.
Do you offer financing?
Yes.We can help homeowners explore financing options depending on the project. If financing is important to you, tell us up front so we can build the right plan.
Do you do siding, windows, and gutters too?
Yes. A lot of homeowners prefer one contractor who can handle the whole exterior—especially after a storm. We are preferred vendors of Climate Solution Windows and Exterior Portfolio Siding.
What should I do if my roof is leaking right now?
-
If you have an active leak:
-
Protect what you can inside (bucket/towels)
-
Take photos of the interior damage
-
Call us so we can help you plan next steps
-
Even if the leak seems “small,” it can turn into mold or drywall damage fast.
-
How do I get an estimate?
Reach out and we’ll set up a time to inspect your roof and talk through your goals. We’ll provide photos, explain what we found, and give you clear next steps. Or you can Click Here for an Instant Roof Quote.
